When Charles T. Dudley, Sr. of Roanoke, Va started a group for local real estate investors in early Spring 2007, he never would have imagined that over 50 investors would have joined the group, that the local association would be meeting at a local college conference center, or that they would have had half a dozen nationally recognized real estate experts visit Roanoke, VA teaching their group on the benefits and joys of the exciting world of real estate investing.
Covering hot topics such as foreclosures, short sales, lease options and negotiations to corporate credit, the successful business mindset, and online marketing – the Roanoke Regional REIA TM is becoming a major force in propelling the local investing market forward.
The RR-REIA TM boasts members from all professions, backgrounds and investing experience. Investors who haven’t even completed their first transaction, to seasoned veterans with over 25 years of experience benefit from the networking, deal swapping and education.
Members come from fields such as real estate agents, mortgage brokers, insurance agents, financial advisors, contractors, property managers, salespersons and even white collar and blue collar workers that have a desire to develop their power team and gain a successful entry point into the real estate arena with a strong foundation.
According to the RR-REIA’s Mission Statement: The Roanoke Regional Real Estate Investor’s Association TM will provide a superior quality forum, for both the beginning and established real estate investor; which will help each member to maximize their productivity and profitability through business networking, sharing of resources, and providing creative solutions.
Dudley himself states that the market in Roanoke is not as bleak as some economic reports may claim, and several local investors have seen a noted upswing in activity since the beginning of 2008. As he left his corporate job in Summer 2007 to pursue real estate investing and training, the RR-REIA practically doubled in membership practically overnight. His new goal is to double again and get the RR-REIA more involved in the National REIA events in addition to local or regional activities.
Current members come from local areas such as Roanoke City and County, Botetourt, Vinton, Salem, Floyd, Christiansburg and Smith Mountain Lake. There are 2 meetings each month; the larger General Session meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30pm at National College off Main Street in Salem and the breakfast club meets the third Wednesday of each month at 7am at the Sunnybrook on Plantation Road in Roanoke.
